Day 144 Cabaret Theater /Altar Boyz

Altar Boyz is  a  musical comedy, which is perfect for an intimate theater like the Cabaret Theater. I smiled from ear to ear during the entire show because it was just  pure nonstop singing and dancing fun! You don’t have to be a Catholic to enjoy the spreading of “ the love of Jesus with funk.” Move over boy bands, this group had Mark, Matthew, Luke, Juan and Abraham (the Jew). (Review)

Reflection
I am not sure why October has been so devoted to cultural experiences like  the symphony, opera, and now musical theater.I am in heaven (no pun intended) when I am experiencing any musical theater. All the arts lift the spirit (again no pun intended) but musical theater has a special part in my soul (pun?)  since performing was one of my passions in high school and college. I was even voted senior  “Most Dramatic” in the year book!

Just  hanging out with the boys
These  five (5) “boyz” sure could dance. The songs were also so clever. “Rhythm in Me” tells how  God gave these altar boys rhythm to spread the word of God with pop.  Any
Catholic, or someone who has visited  a Catholic church, would laugh along with the song “Church  Rules” about  standing up, sitting down, getting up again, kneeing, genuflecting, and using the holy water. In  “The Calling” each told how they  were called by Jesus to spread his word-  by a cell phone call, a tweet, or an email.   There was a “soul meter” direct from Sonny of course, that  tracked the number of  sinners in the audience which started at 99 but was periodically reduced by their dancing and singing pop message. I am glad these altar boys were so impactful!

This show runs through December so you have a chance to get energized by these fabulous five (5) which is good for the soul. I think my mother had a crush on Juan too!

Spiritual Reflection
A cheerful heart is good medicine, but a broken spirit saps a persons strength (Proverbs 12:22)

And how do you benefit if you gain the whole world but lose your own soul in the process? Is anything worth more than your soul?  ( Mark 8 36-38)

Then our mouth was filled with laughter, and our toung with shouts of joy;then they said among the nations, "The Lord has done great things for them.'' (Psalm 126:2)
