Indecent-Pittsburgh Public Theater-April 18-May 19, 2019- O-Reilly Theater

Indecent is a play with traditional Jewish music that introduces the history of Yiddish Theater. It is based on a true story and tells the chronological highlights of a young Jewish writer’s 1906 play God of Vengeance written about the love between two women.  This play was wildly popular throughout  Europe but its edited  Broadway version caused controversy and jail time for the cast.

Join me for Indecent -a play with music- that introduces the Yiddish Theater experience. For tickets go to ppt.org.          .

Liberty Magic-Lee Terbosic then Billy Kidd-May Magic

A show at Liberty Magic is a unique up close and personal magical experience. Local artist, Lee Terbosic amazes and entertains with  In Plain Slight until May 12th . Billy Kidd brings her international show, Bridging the Gap, from May 15 to June 23, 2019.

Lauderdale By Sea-Spring Get Away-Scuba Diving

With low cost direct flights from Pittsburgh to Fort Lauderdale I recommend a spring or summer sunshine break.  Lauderdale by the Sea (see Day 298 ) is now one of my favorite destinations to relax on the beach but it also offers an exploration of the world below with  snorkeling and scuba diving off  its coral reefs and Copenhagen ship wreck.

As a land dweller I am quite happy plopping down in one of the beach chairs offered by the  Plunge Beach Hotel and chilling, but this trip with the guidance of South Florida Diving, I am planning an encounter with  the world under the ocean surface as a first time scuba diver.

Don Pasquale-Pittsburgh Opera-April 24 to May 5-Benadum

The Italian opera Don Pasquale is a fanciful story about a wealthy bachelor whose nephew, Ernesto, schemes a fake marriage between his uncle and Ernesto’s love interest, Norina. The plan is for Norina  to  drive Don Pasquale crazy so that he will flee the  marriage and Ernesto and Norina can live happily ever after. Pittsburgh Opera gives this tale a face-lift with a  1950’s Hollywood setting and cast Don Pasquale as a former film star of the Silent Movie era.

Instead of an opera ending in tragedy  this one ends with a party. Join me at the Benadum for a  night of  laughs  with  Don Pasquale. For tickets go to pittsburghopera.org and more for on the 2019-20 season go to https://www.pittsburghopera.org/season/.
