Day 320-A Concert at the Hard Rock Cafe-The Prince Project- Party Like it’s “1999”

When we hear music that was popular during our youth, we are transported back to that time remembering our past antics and the fun.  In the 80’s, I along with most of my girlfriends, had a crush on Prince after the release of the album (yes I said album) and the movie “Purple Rain”.  I never had the chance to see this pop rock virtuoso live. That is why I was excited to experience the Prince and the Revolution tribute band,  The Prince Project, recently at the Hard Rock Cafe. The Prince Project, transported the Hard Rock Cafe back to the 1980’s where this  sold out dancing crowd  seemed to be partying like it was “1999”.

Reflection
A good tribute band gives us the experience of a concert that we could not have without it because a band no longer plays, tours or as in this case, the rock master is no longer with us. The Prince Project ignited the room with "Let's Go Crazy" and then one hit after another, “Little Red Corvette”, “When Doves Cry”, “Raspberry Beret”, “I Would Die For You’ and over 20 more. During the first half, my friend turned to me and said, “I forgot how many hits Prince had and they are playing them all”(watch here).

The Prince Project  with a group of skilled musicians successfully tackled  this difficult music including the Revolution's guitar riffs and the varied rhythms in the music. Impersonator DaVaughn Weber, looked, moved and sounded just like Prince.

This tribute band made our Prince memory a reality for a night. We swayed holding the light of our phones instead of  lighters during “Purple Rain” and ended our night dancing to “Baby I’m A Star.”

The Hard Rock  Cafe is the perfect  venue for an intimate musical experience where you can have dinner before a show and still dance like it’s 1999 during a show.
