Day 254 Adam Trent-Magician Illusionist-theatrical magic

As a kid I was fascinated with magic and even got my first magic kit for Christmas  at the age of eight. Just like kids, we want to believe in magic, see the impossible and believe in the impossible.  Since I love both theater and magic I was ready to experience Adam Trent who gives you both by combining magic with special lighting, effects, music, dance and comedy in his show-theatrical magic (watch here).



Reflection 
Adam Trent  doesn’t  just do  tricks but gives his audience an overall  magical performance. He opened with a light show complete with stars, comets and a lot of twinkling as his piano appeared which he also played.  He was a performer and used comedy even if it was sometimes silly, consistently in his show.  I enjoyed his enthusiasms for magic. I can  see why his show The Illusionist ran for two years on Broadway.

The magic was not overshadowed by the theatrics. Although there were several illusions that I have seen before, they seemed so much bigger live. He gave the audience that amazed, “how did he do that feeling”.  Like when  he went into the audience with a web cam and picked an odd looking old man out of the audience. The old man ripped off a plastic face to reveal Adam! “How did he do that?” Like when he had a little boy pick three items at random out of a box of things from the audience. He  then called up a woman from the audience that he gave a locked box to  prior to the show (showing us a video of the encounter).  She then opened the box with a key to find the kid’s 3 items!  “How did he do that?”

Even though I have seen pictures of his sawing himself in half illusion, it was still amazing live (watch here). He ended by sharing his personal story and by showing adorable video clips of his childhood which revealed his love for music and magic. As he stood on his  piano making an  unending stream of paper flow from his hands, he reminded  all of us that even though we know it’s not real - it can still be magical.
