My first experience with the music of the British rock band, Pink Floyd,
was in college. I was not a “rock
and roll” girl but a disco queen in college
mostly because I loved to dance. One of my roommates gave me head phones and I listened to the entire album of “The
Wall”laying down in a dim lit room. I could not believe the musical experience with the voices, sounds (laughter), and
instrumentals. I assure you that no drugs were involved but I was taken on an escape, a relaxing ride, and I
was hooked on the band. My blog inspiration book, Everything I Need to Know I Learned from A Little Golden Book, reminds us to “use your
imagination” and that is just what I remember doing that day in my college dorm as I was immersed in the music. I was
excited to see if Brit Floyd, which is a
Pink Floyd cover band, could capture
the experience.

Reflection
Pink Floyd is considered a psychedelic
rock band. It was formed in 1965, making music during the age of the “drug revolution.” I was most familiar with the hits from the albums (back then we only had albums and big bulky head phones), “The Wall” and “Dark Side of the Moon.” Brit
Floyd revived many great songs that I
had forgotten. They played songs from 9
different Floyd albums. Floyd fans just
crave this music so a good cover band has its own following. I was surprised how many Brit Floyd fans
that I met who go
to their shows yearly. The guy sitting behind
me went both nights that they played in Pittsburgh.
If you are a Pink
Floyd fan than you will love this show for the
simple fact that the music sounds just like, if not better than, the
originals. You will hear songs that you love, and if you’re like me,
you will discover more. It was non- stop

Brit Floyd is a theatrical experience with lasers, lights,
changing visuals on a floor to ceiling screen, and even a parade size floating pig
which is the iconic symbol from album, “Animals.” The musicians were spot on. I loved the saxophone in “Us and Them”
(The Wall). Brit Floyd’s Angela Cervantes' amazing vocal scales from the song, “The Great Gig in the Sky,” had everyone on their
feet (listen here ). When I closed my
eyes at this concert, I was back in my dorm room immersed in the music! Brit
